  • Typing/Keyboarding Class

    Learn how to type on a computer keyboard using the touch system. Teaching kids to "touch" type is a great skill to have early on and will save a tremendous amount of time later. One of the most important reasons to get kids typing is it helps get to the thinking faster. In academic terms this is called "cognitive automaticity". With typing we are freed from the slowness of handwriting, finally allowing us to get our ideas down at the speed of thought.   • Spanish for Middle School

    Grades 6-8This is a year long academic Spanish program for students with or without previous Spanish experience.Research shows that youth who study a new language increase their mental flexibility and creativity, transfer skills used between their first and second languages and improve their English. Children develop an appreciation and respect of diverse cultures, too. This academic-year language enrichment program combines a progressive language curriculum with movement, music and art in an age-appropriate way to boost language acquisition. Lessons are offered through University Language Center, a Minneapolis based language school specializing in Accelerated Learning techniques for students of all ages and levels. The program fees include workbooks and materials. This program meets twice per week throughout the school year to give students the best experience in second language acquisition. Class fee includes 1 set of materials. Note: students will be charged for lost materials that need to be replaced.Approximately 52 sessions (class meets 2x per week) after school at Kenwood Trail Middle School.  Century Middle School students can take the activity bus to KTMS for class. $650.  Pay in full at time of registration, or choose tuition based payments (6 total monthly payments of $100): $50 non-refundable registration fee and 1 month tuition due at time of registration ($150). Remaining 5 payments of $100 due on the 5th of each month, November – March. Refunds will not be issued for any cancellations after March 5, 2018.
