Age Prerequisite: 17 years of age by the last day of the class

Certification Prerequisite: Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification

An abbreviated Lifeguarding course that reviews course content in addition to practice and testing of skills and emergency team response. This class is taught in a blended learning format and the assigned online portion(s) (accessed via mobile desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to each instructor-led session. To participate in the recertification course participants must possess a Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid (current certification or certification expired by no more than 30 days). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid valid for 2 years.

Skill Prerequisites:

• Endurance continuous swim: 150 yd. swim, 2 min. treading water using legs only followed by 50 yd. swim. Swimming must be either front crawl, breaststroke or any combination of these two strokes.
• Timed skill sequence: 20 yd. swim, retrieval of a 10 lb. object from 7 ft. deep, swim 20 yd. carrying the object and exit the water within 1 min. and 40 sec.
