    Water Safety Aide (WSA)

    Ages 13 and up A great class for students ages 13 and up who love water and children and are seeking employment as an assistant swim instructor. Students that complete this course will be qualified to apply for employment at the age of 14. You will get hands-on experience during the class. First aid and CPR are not included. *Completion of this class does not guarantee employment with ISD #194.

    Intermediate 2 (Ages 5 and up) Participants increase endurance, improve competency for strokes learned in Intermediate 1 and learn breaststroke to basic standards of competency. Safety topics include basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming, and waterpark safety.     For students who love water, children and are seeking employment as an assistant swim instructor or Lifeguard. These courses are designed to teach the necessary skills to become a Water Safety Assistant or Certified Lifeguard.
  • Beginner 1

    Beginner 1 (Ages 5 and up) Participants become comfortable in the water learning basic swimming skills and building endurance to swim longer distances more independently. Safety topics include basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming, and waterpark safety. Skills: Jump into chest-deep water Bob underwater, blowing bubbles, 3 times Front float, face in water, 3 sec. Front glide, face in water Back float, ears in water, 3 sec. Back glide, ears in water Roll over: Front to back/Back to front Paddle stroke on front, face in water, 5 yd. Monkey, Tree, Soldier arms, ears in water, 5 yd. Back crawl arms, ears in water, 5 yd.     Aqua Kids 1 Without parent, ages 3 to 5 Participants become comfortable in the water learning basic swimming skills without a parent or guardian in the water with them. Safety topics include basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming, and waterpark safety.     Aqua Tots (Ages 6 months to 5 years with parent or guardian) Enjoy swimming with your child while building swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water for children ages 6 to 36 months old accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents learn to help their child adjust to the water and develop safety awareness. Participants become comfortable in the water learning basic swimming skills with assistance from a parent or guardian. Safety topics include basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming, and waterpark safety. *Each child must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the water during class.     Aqua Kids 2 Ages 3 to 5 Participants continue to develop swimming skills and endurance to swim longer distances with floatation. Safety topics include basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming, and waterpark safety. Skills (may be performed with flotation): Jump into chest-deep water and return to the edge of pool Bob underwater, blowing bubbles, 5 times Front float, face in water, 10 sec. Front glide, turn and swim back to the wall, face in water Back float, ears in water, 10 sec.   • Intermediate 1

  • Beginner 2

    Beginner 2 (Ages 5 and up) Participants learn to swim without flotation or assistance for longer distances. Safety topics include basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming, and waterpark safety. Safety topics include basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming, and waterpark safety.   • Dash Summer Track and Field

    Combo Camp - Christina Huddleston DASH Sports Summer Track & Field camps provide participants with practice in several areas including: Sprinting, throwing, relay running, jumping and distance running. Emphasis is on technique and proper form. Camp consists of many different types of physical activities, drills, and games, all tailored specifically to enhance overall track and field performance. Campers should bring a water bottle, snack, and wear athletic shoes.
  • Lap Swim

    Adult Lap Swim Ages 18+ Swim laps at your own pace. Equipment is available for use including kickboards, pull buoys and fins. Pool water temperature is 80-82 degrees. Locker rooms and showers are available. There is no ramp or stairs at the CMS Pool, however, there is a lift, if needed to get into and out of the pool.   • Resilience Martial Arts Youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - Little Champs

    Little Champs | Ages 5-7 Gracie Bullyproof Programs: Instill nonviolent responses to bullying in your children by learning self-defense techniques perfected by Gracie Jiu Jitsu and upholding the six pillars of character development (Responsibility, Respect, Health, Manners, Citizenship, and Caring). We believe that fire is best fought with water, not more fire. We will prepare your child to defend themselves against bullies without turning them into one. This class helps build confidence and character to know how to react when confronted with adversity. Play fun games with some technicality to learn the basic standing and ground control techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and role play with your classmates to feel confident in effectively defusing challenging or unwanted situations. *Required equipment: T-shirt or athletic wear to be worn under Gi. No jeans. New Gi and belt will be provided during the program. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Resilience Martial Arts is located within Juniper Commons in Lakeville.     Combo Camp - Lake Marion Dash Sports flag football camps provide players with a well-rounded football experience in a little to no contact safe environment. Key elements of passing, catching, rushing, and defense will be taught and practiced, and players will be grouped and challenged at an appropriate level in a fun, positive environment while learning values of ‘Respect, Hustle, and Pride’. Camp ends with a scrimmage on the final day. Athletes should bring a water bottle (spikes/cleats are optional). Footballs and flag belts are provided.
  • Dash Sports Sampler & Games

    Combo Camp - Oak Hills DASH Sports Summer Sports Sampler & Games camp includes fun skills training and games in three sports: soccer, flag football, and baseball. Learn and practice the key sports skills for all three sports daily while developing the key skill components and gameplay of each sport. This camp also includes fun games such as dodgeball, kickball, capture the flag and more! Camp ends with games/scrimmages practiced in all 3 sports! Bring a baseball glove, sunscreen, water bottle and snack and athletic shoes and clothing.
  • Dash Jr. NBA Basketball Skills & Games

    Grades 1-6 DASH Sports Jr. NBA basketball skills camps provide players a well-rounded basketball experience covering a broad range of skills training and skill-based games. Players will be taught how to properly shoot, pass, dribble, and play defense in a fun and positive environment. This camp features 2 days of basketball skills training and instruction and 4 days of instructor led games/scrimmages. Each player will also receive a Jr. NBA jersey of their favorite team with registration. Athletes should bring a water bottle. Balls are provided.

    XaBeat is a dance-fitness program that provides high intensity cardio and toning in a party like atmosphere with simple and easy to follow routines that will help you concentrate on getting a great workout! Sculpt your body and burn calories without even realizing it because you are having fun. All fitness levels are welcome. Register for a 5-6 week Monday evening or Wednesday evening session.   • Scouts BSA Swim Test

    This is a BSA swim test event only. Lifeguards will be there to sign off on all tests. Swimmers pass this test: Jump feet first into water over the head in depth. Level off and swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be completed in one swim without stops and must include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating. Beginners pass this test: Jump feet first into water over the head in depth, level off, and swim 25 feet on the surface. Stop, turn sharply, resume swimming, and return to the starting place. Anyone who has not completed either the beginner or swimmer tests is classified as a non swimmer.

    Welcome to Community Education Aquatics The Community Education Aquatics and Safety program provides a wide range of swimming opportunities in the areas of instruction, recreation, fitness and safety certifications for infant through adult students in the Lakeville area and beyond. Our program offers year-round instruction to give you or your child a great experience in the water. Our American Red Cross (ARC) trained instructors typically teach throughout the year, so you can count on seeing the same high-quality instructor at each lesson and session.
