Disney's Tarzan
About the Show - Disney's Tarzan the Stage Musical is based on Disney's epic 1999 animated film, with show-stopping music by rock legend, Phil Collins and special guest artists Nsync. When an infant boy is lost in the jungle, a mother ape decides to take him in and raise him as her own. Tarzan learns to think, act, move and speak like a gorilla, while seeking acceptance from his father - who can only see Tarzan as a potential threat to the animal family. When Jane (a young explorer) and her father arrive in the jungle, Tarzan is faced with seeing himself as he really is, learning what the word "family" truly means, and deciding which path he must take towards his future.Disney's Tarzan runs approx. 2 hours mins in length, with a 15 minute intermission, and is most enjoyed by audiences age 5 and up.
Actors Age 5+ are required to audition on either May 11, 13 or 15 and are NOT guaranteed a role. Actors MUST register in order to audition. There are a limited number of audition spots available for each night, so early registration is recommended. Once all audition spots are filled, a waitlist will be formed. *No prior stage experience is required but actors MUST be 5 by their audition date (no exceptions). This is a large-scale musical production with roles for approx. 150-200 participants. While many roles are available, most actors cast in the production (including adults) will appear in the Ape Ensemble. Additional audition information including role breakdowns can be found at castleco.org/auditions Auditions will be held May 11, 13, and 15 at the Lakeville South High School Auditorium. Rehearsals will be held weeknight evenings and occasional Saturdays starting May 25 through July 18 at Lakeville South High School Auditorium as well as at CastleCo Theatre's rehearsal location in downtown Farmington. Most actors will rehearse 2-5 hours per week (spread over 1 or 2 days). Actors in leading roles can expect to rehearse 3-6 days per week. Rehearsal schedules will be set after auditions. CCT will ask actors to fill out their availability on a calendar at, or prior to, their audition. Casting priority will be given to actors who have the most availability to rehearse. Actors who will be out of town and/or unable to rehearse between July 20 - July 26 should NOT audition without emailing info@castleco.orgahead of time. Missing one date in this time range may be ok, but actors missing more than one date should likely not audition.
Performances will be held July 24 - August 2. Actors will have the option to be considered for full-time or part-time roles. Part-time roles will only rehearse 1-2 days per week and will perform in half the show times listed below. (Performances for part-time roles follow an every-other schedule. Actors do NOT get to select which shows they will perform in.) Full-time actors will rehearse 1-6 days per week (pending their role) and will perform in all of the show times listed below.
Registration fee (paid after casting):
Ages 8-17: $225 per actor (for the first two actors per family), $75 per each additional actor
Ages 18+: $0 CCT and Community Education wishes to make theatre accessible to everyone, including those with limited mobility, learning needs, and those unable to pay the participation fee due to financial need. If you need accommodations in order to audition, please email info@castleco.org. Fee assistance will be available for those cast who are in need of financial assistance and can be applied for after production information is given out. (Those seeking financial assistance do not need to email prior to auditioning.)
