Allegro Choral Academy

The Allegro Choral Academy serves over 165 students in grades 2-8 in from communities throughout the south metro area of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Since its founding in 2006, Allegro has doubled in size and has become the premiere choral music education experience for children “south of the river.” The mission of the Allegro Choral Academy is to provide a comprehensive vocal music experience to young people through the achievement of musical excellence in an environment that nurtures creativity, teamwork and the love of singing. Allegro plays an important role in its community, as well. Allegro uses its concerts as opportunities to give back to its community and those most in need. At every Allegro concert, money is raised for a predetermined charity or cause. More information on Allegro’s charity outreach program may be found on its website: www.allegroca.org. Allegro is also active developing its musical distinctiveness. In 2008, Allegro’s Bel Canto choir performed the world premiere of Ah, Nagasaki with the Minnesota Chorale and the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Allegro has also started a tradition of commissioning new pieces of choral music.
