    The ACE (Academics, Competencies, Enrichment) Program is an after-school, ISD194 staff supervised program for students in sixth through eighth grade at Century, Kenwood Trail and McGuire Middle Schools. The program provides a positive and safe environment for students to receive homework help. In addition to homework help, students will have the opportunity to, receive help with organization, and also participate in other enrichment activities. After-school enrichment programs have been shown to help improve student’s confidence, academic achievement, creativity, time management skills, influence teamwork, and relieve stress on working families.   • Babysitting 101

    Age 10 1/2-15 Gain the skills and confidence to be a great babysitter. This course is fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, exciting video, role plays and lively discussions. It teaches young people how to: Care for children and infants Handle emergencies Communicate effectively with parents Make good decisions, solve problems and stay safe Bring a peanut free snack and water to class.
  • DIY Spa Day

    Grades 2-5 This craft day is all about pampering yourself! We will create fizzy bath bombs, sugar scrubs, bath salts and many more spa related items. Customized jewelry pieces will also be assembled. Children will also learn about and get to test different essential oils. (Please advise as to allergy restrictions when registering).
  • Home Alone

    Ages 8-10 Learn information to make sure you're comfortable and safe when staying home alone, whether for five minutes or a couple of hours. Does your child know what to do in case of a fire? If there is a stranger at the door? How to use the Internet safely? If they get hungry and want a snack? Our Home Alone class will provide many necessary tools so your child is well-equipped to stay home without an adult. Kids will make first aid kits and learn about fire escape routes, first aid, kitchen safety, boredom busters & more. Bring a water bottle and a peanut free snack.
  • Mommy and Me Craft Day

    This class requires an adult to register with the child. Price is per person attending since everyone will be making the jewelry. With Mother’s Day right around the corner, it is a great time to do a mother/daughter activity! Or come and make a special gift to surprise the special gal in your life! Enjoy a relaxing time creating as many pieces as time allows. Colorful beads, charms and cords will be available to assist in your creation of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and pendants.
  • Young Engineers Robotics and STEM Program: Valleyfair Park Machines

    Grades 1-7 In this session, your child will learn about STEM and programming concepts and will be challenged to build up to four (4) different motorized robotic and engineering models using patented education kits. Your child will learn about aerodynamics and importance, elastic energy, renewable energy and other. During the class, your child will independently build working motorized models of north star carousel, Xtream swing pirate ship, maze ride, giant Ferris wheel and other.
